Auburn WA - A Community and Hive of Business Activity
Did you know that the original name of Auburn WA was Slaughter WA? According to "all knowing" Wikipedia
"Slaughter, Washington was named after Lt. William Slaughter, who died in a skirmish fighting Native Americans which are now a part of the modern day Muckleshoot tribe in 1855. At the time, the main hotel in town was called the "Slaughter House."
In the late 1800's settlers from Auburn, New York, moved to Slaughter, and renamed the town to "Auburn." We know poor old Lt Slaughter didn't choose his name, but in the end we are glad the transplants from New York changed it to a name that didn't conjure such violent images.
Like all the greater Seattle area communities, Auburn WA has transitioned over the years from an agricultural center to a thriving business and suburban community. Compared to Seattle's ever climbing real estate prices, Auburn's lush valley offers "relatively" affordable land within a commute-able distance to Seattle, Tacoma and other Pacific Northwest communities. These attributes make Auburn very attractive for light and heavy industrial activities and distribution hubs. Boeing lead the way back in 1966 by opening the largest airplane parts plant in the world with 2,100,000 square feet and 1,265,000 parts being manufactured each year. With over 5,000 employees, the Boeing plant is the third major employer in Auburn.
Why Vehicle and Fleet Wraps Matter so Much to Auburn WA Businesses
Imagine Auburn WA as a bee hive. Everyday, the bees (business vehicles) leave the hive (Auburn based business and distribution centers) to deliver their goods and services to the Great Seattle Tacoma area. There are thousands of business vehicles that come and go from Auburn WA every day. Like bees pollinating the plants and flowers, fleet wraps and graphics can spread a company name and message around the area, pollinating new business opportunities. Every exposure creates potential for a new customer or partnership.
According to Work Truck Magazine
"...a study performed by the American Trucking Associations (ATA), a vehicle wrap on a typical trailer makes 10 million impressions every year. That number increases to 14 million for trailers with reflective graphics and to 16 million for local delivery vans. Another study found that fleet graphics give 101 impressions per mile traveled. With so many opportunities to get eyes on your advertising, adding graphics to fleet trucks or vans can go a long way toward boosting brand recognition."
It can be hard to appreciate how compelling this advertising exposure really is until you compare it to other marketing and advertising options. Even the most conservative ROI estimates will blow any other types of advertising out of the water. Check out the rest of the Work Truck Magazine article here. They have put together a fantastic overview of business fleet wraps and graphics.
